Centennial
|
A medium-high alpha and dual-purpose hop; provides clean Bittering Qualities and a rich, fragrant. This variety is for general purpose bittering, aroma, and some dry hopping with a spicy, floral and citrus bouquet mostly for medium to dark American ales. Flavor and aroma similar to Cascade, sometimes called "Super Cascade". Works great when combined with Cascade for Pale Ales. Used in Medium to Dark Ales. Well suited for American Pale Ales. Some successful commercial examples are Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale and Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Ale.
Good Substitute: Cascade and possibly Columbus.
